430 words this morning, which isn’t a lot but it’s not shabby for a half-hour’s work. Manuscript total of 67,505.
Yesterday, I shared with LT the High Performance Indicator test I came across as a result of the book I’m currently listening to (High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard). Because I am a competitive person, I was a little miffed that LT ended up scoring so much higher than I did. But I guess LT didn’t feel like she had scored as high as she should have, because she told me last night that the test triggered something in her. She stayed up a little late making a calendar for herself, mapping out the days she’s going to get up at 4:30 in the morning to go run, the days she’s going to write, etc.
Brava, LT! Brava.
If she’s going to run at 5am, then I’m going to run at 5am, because I just can’t imagine letting her run by herself before dawn in a place without a lot of people around. I’m hoping the High Performance Indicator test, and the scores that neither LT nor I were particularly proud of, will mark a new beginning for us both.
I’m glad I started my day with writing. I’m glad I’ve got LT to keep me honest and encourage me through her own good example. Here’s to Day 1 — may it be the first of many.
I’ll close out with a quote from Steven Pressfield’s The War of Art (a great little book, btw):
The most important thing about art is to work. Nothing else matters except sitting down every day and trying.

Aw bugger…I am so competitive, too, but alas these days with work and other stuff, I’ve set my goal a whole lot lower…I feel good if I get 500 words in a day!
The Real Person!
Ya know, what matters is just trying every day. <3
