Hello, all!
I recently met Zara and Camille of All Stars Book Club, a lesfic / wlw reading group on Facebook. (Here’s a link to their group if you’re interested.) They featured Princess of Dorsa and Soldier of Dorsa as their February 2021 reads, and at the end of the month, they asked me to sit down to do an interview with them.
We talked about a wide range of topics, including these handy timestamps that Zara made.
- 00:00 – Introduction
- 00:45 – Talking about Bigger Monsters
- 03:10 – Writing Inspiration
- 4:58 – Inspiration for The Chronicles of Dorsa
- 9:43 – Construction of the World of Dorsa
- 15:20 – Character growth and a peek into Book 3
- 20:57 – Will there be other books set in Dorsa?
- 21:50 – Favourite part about writing
- 25:24 – How much planning goes into writing a book?
- 26:39 – Some questions from readers about book sequels
- 28:48 – What book would you have liked to have written?
- 32:04 – How does one choose an audiobook narrator?
- 37:21 – Why did you choose to write under a pen name?
- 38:10 – What are the Shadowlands?
- 41:41 – What is your ideal writing environment?
- 43:08 – Do you have any advice for new writers?
- 45:04 – This or That?
- 46:36 – Parting Thoughts
THE AUDIO IS SUCKY FOR ABOUT THE FIRST FIFTEEN MINUTES, but after that it gets better. I’m sorry. My internet sucks. Imagine how my students feel every day!

I just finished reading both books and I’m actually re-reading them now (not something I usually do, especially not back to back lol) Awesome interview, loved hearing about the inspiration for the story & your process. I’ve actually been inspired creatively by the stories & characters. I have a few projects I want to work on for animation & vfx, hope to share soon!

Hi Ryan!
My update is that I have semi-major surgery tomorrow and will therefore be laid up for several weeks. BUT the good news is that I hope that means I will be able to work uninterruptedly on EoD. The book has just crossed the 150k mark, so it’s still coming along. Slooooooowly. I can’t believe I’m not done with it yet!
