1,260 so far today; 86,253 total for the manuscript.

When I finished my finals last Thursday, I asked myself, “How much can I accomplish in one week?”, and I set four specific goals. Let’s revisit those and see how I’m doing with less than 24 hours to go before my new schedule kicks in:

  1. Add at least 10,000 words to my manuscript by August 15thDONE! I’ve actually added 10,834 words since I wrote these goals last Friday — not bad for six days!
  2. a) Fix the formatting for at least two of my novels so that the Amazon previews don’t continue to look ridiculousDONE! “Look Inside” formatting on (almost all of my) novels has been fixed.
    b) Fix the back matter and links of those two books at the same time 1/2 done. I should be able to fix the back matter in a second book today. UPDATE: DONE!
  3. Speaking of back matter, find a new back matter partner for To Have Loved & Lost to replace A. E. Radley — Not even attempted.
  4. Promote the audiobook version of Eastside / Westside / LoveMade significant progress. About to start a group promo for audiobooks!

Let’s see how much more I can get done today.

Today is probably the last progress report for a while.

I know this breaks your heart, but today’s progress report is probably the last one for a bit. I like the commitment and ritual of writing them, but when my new schedule starts, all bets are off.

I think I will set a new intention to write a progress report every Wednesday. I made that commitment once before and totally failed to keep it; this time, I think I can do better!

Good habits / bad habits — what are YOURS?

Brendon Burchard (whose book I finished yesterday) would be proud of me for the strides I’ve made towards being more productive and less procrastinate-y. Also, look at what I just found out from him (I’m on his email list, too):

Did you know the average American spends 37 minutes per day on Facebook?

Let’s break that down…

37 mins x 7 days = 259 minutes = 4.3 hours Per Week

= 17.2 hours per month = 207 hours per year

207 hours = 8 full days, 24/7

25 FULL 8HR WORKDAYS PER YEAR.

That’s not exact numbers depending on how many days in the year, buy you get the point…

That’s almost an entire MONTH of work per year!

— Brendon Burchard

Facebook isn’t my thing so much… but lying in bed and reading the news? Yeah. Bad habit to break.

What about you? What do you do to improve your own effort and productivity on the things that matter most to you?

Hello! I just want to say Suzi and I appreciate you taking the time to post these updates. It’s a nice touch because your workload puts us to shame.
I will also say that your books are some of the best I’ve read in the genre, and there have been many hundreds now.
While my wife doesn’t read anywhere near as much as me, we agree the Rosemont books make two of the best audiobooks we’ve heard!
