305 words so far today; 79,370 total for the manuscript. Don’t know how much more I’ll get to write today. (Update: Made it to 1,717; 80,782 before I ran out of time! Maybe I can still add more tonight.)
Time is limited, because this weekend I am helping LT prepare her ninth grade English classroom for the school year. Classes already started a few weeks ago (they are a year-round school district, so they go back from summer break in late July), but open house is coming up this Thursday, and she’s working feverishly to turn a room that has been neglected for years into a warm and welcoming place before she meets parents this week.
Hence the title of this post — I offer this fact as a public service announcement: Teal and dusty rose do not go together. I tried to tell LT as much, but it was not an argument I was going to win. However, now that we have painted two walls and see the contrast, it is clear that our first stop today will be at Home Depot for primer and a replacement color for the teal. (LT is the girliest girly girl I have ever met, which means that the dusty rose is definitely staying; it’s the teal that isn’t going to make the cut.)
We worked until 7pm yesterday; today we will likely work just as late but get an earlier start. LT has decided she likes painting a lot more than the tedious process of blocking out things that should not get painted with blue masking tape, so that will be my job. Plus I must renew my butch card by assembling bookshelves. I’m trying to convince her that we also need to install a chair rail to protect the freshly painted walls, but we’ll see if that gets past approval.

teal may be too saturated–but variations on lighter greens should work beautifully with dusty rose–as they work in Venetian 18th-century interiors/upholstery

She was thinking about a mint green, but I told her that if we went that route, it needs to be super pale… LT is a woman who likes her bright, bold colors, and it’s just hard for her to understand that they don’t always go together! (Please don’t tell her I said that.)

I’d have kept the teal, but I never would have purchased those two colors expecting them to go together, so… Maybe more of a verdigris?
That Certified Butch card is too cute. I definitely earn mine with my furniture assembly, wall mounting and repairs, garden and lawn care, but get it revoked every time I wear a dress and makeup. Haha!

I made a decision to never wear a dress or skirt again in 2001 and haven’t looked back since then. If anything, I’m surprised it took me that long.

I think that’s around the time my wife stopped wearing them too. She’s the inept butch; I just happen to be the handy-gal with a sometimes girlie style. Which is hard to find a term for.
