After an early morning run, which included an encounter with a tarantula and a rattlesnake (read the whole story here on Facebook), a little bit of arm-wrestling with my web host, and some good old-fashioned procrastination, I wrote 895 words. Manuscript total: 69,641.
Here’s a sentence:
The Zaris Mountains were barely visible from here, still half-hidden in the morning mist. Backlit by the sun, their peaks rose above the clouds like a jagged row of black teeth. The sight filled Joslyn with both dread and bitterness.

As for the title of this post, I belong to a writing group with my ever-talented girlfriend, mystery writer Anne Hagan, and a newcomer to writing lesfic, Sarah (who also happens to be a commercial airline pilot!). Each day, we update each other via email about our day’s writing progress. For fun, we title each email “Day [ number of the month ]” and then rhyme it. So… August One, Ain’t It Fun?
