There’s a reason that you didn’t see a progress report from me yesterday… I didn’t write anything. It was one of those mornings when I got busy doing other things and told myself I would write later. Then I had a doctor’s appointment, then I started working on school projects… 11pm arrived before I knew it, and I realized I hadn’t written.
“Be rigid in your commitment, flexible in your execution,” I told myself. “Write for 20 minutes.” But the next thing I knew, I was asleep.
I was thinking this morning about how easy it is to make excuses for not doing things — not eating right, not exercising, in my case, not writing. But we just have to do it, don’t we? Like Nike says.
For me, I’ve realized that “Just Do It” means I have to do it in the morning, because if I don’t make a commitment to write first thing, before I get involved in anything else, there’s a very good chance I won’t write at all.
What about you? What do you know about your own habits when it comes to sticking to the promises you have made to yourself?
