Hello everybody. I’m a bad girl. I’ve fallen behind on my writing schedule *and* my blogging schedule. Last week, I failed to post anything from my work in progress. But I’m trying to recapture some writing momentum, starting this week. That means I’m back in a writing groove again and I’m trying to get back into a blogging groove.
One thing I’m doing differently with my current novel-in-progress, Anika takes the long way home up soul mountain, is giving each of the chapters titles. I don’t know why I’m doing it, exactly. I think it has to do with Anika’s personality. I’m up to chapter 29 at this point (there will probably be about 40 chapters in total), and while I’m not going to give you every single chapter title, I thought giving you a handful might give you a sense of the story’s “flavor.”
So here you go; hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1: I fucking hate airports.
Chapter 2: Snakes on a plane.
Chapter 3: In case of emergency, keep the person next to you busy.
Chapter 6: Home smells like curry, collard greens, and fried chicken.
Chapter 9: You know what? Screw “Amazing Grace.” I’ll stay lost.
Chapter 10: Racist generals and cryptic fortune cookies.
Chapter 14: Of mice and women, rednecks and government conspiracy theories.
Chapter 17: That’s a fucking romantic second date.
Chapter 19: Families. Jesus.
Chapter 20: Siblings. Jesus.
Chapter 23: Nothing says “fun” like a room full of drunken straight girls and a male stripper.
